Im setting up a deep blue 55 gallon reef ready and was looking into an external pump. Can anyone enlighten me on them? I was considering one of the new d/c pumps but im unsure how good they are. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.
55 gallon reef ready
8 gallon sump
8 gallon refugium

Can't speak on the dc pumps but will +1 Reefing Madness list. Not sure if that was in order of preference or just a list. My order would be
Iwaki as they last forever
Reeflo(my dart lasted 10yrs) if there is a problem they rebuild them or give you a good discount on replacing the pump, when out of warranty.
Panworld, very similar to Iwaki pumps
Mags, long lasting but better suited internal IMO, also a bit of an energy hog
Quite one at the bottom of my list. Just didn't care for it compared to the others

I am using the Jaebo DC 3000 on my skimmer and the DC 6000 for return and both are super quiet and put out more than enough flow for me. It's been 6 months now and no complaints.
