Hey guys

What's the trick to multiple pairs of clowns in one tank?

I've got a pair of clown I've had for quite a while now. And I added another pair like 7 or 8 months ago. Problem is 1 of my original pair keeps going over and fighting with the two new ones. I can chase him back to his side of the tank and as soon as I walk away he's back at it...

The new ones aren't afraid of him, they fight all day long. At night he goes back to his anemone but during the day they are back at it.

Not sure if I should pull him out and put him in my fuge 30g because his other half would miss him...

But this has been going on since the new ones showed up.

My tank is 8ft long and they each have an anemone on each end to call their own.

Will they eventually stop bothering each other or should I pull the 1 out for a week or two?

It's hard to add new clowns ounce a pair has been established into your tank for some time. Are one pair breeding? JME

Not that I know of. It's a big tank, they just hang out in their anemone all day until this new pair came to town... :/

In my experience, the more Anemones in the tank the less battling over dominance as well as not mixing species.
i've had 4 clowns MAX in my tank but keep to two now as its just easier

I would take both of the old clowns to the sump for a week or so. They come back to the tank and will stay at their nem not fighting for a while. However these clowns are not very smart, they don't seem to remember ; -)

I think I'm gonna try that or see if my LFS will trade them for some anthias
