Hello everyone

I am looking to purchase a skimmer for my 125 gallon mixed reef. I have a sump but the 2nd chamber is too small to fit a skimmer into. I was thinking of going external. What is everyone's thoughts and/or recommendations??

Thanks in advanced

what is your sump layout and chamber footprint? will it fit in 3rd chamber?

No 3rd chamber. The return chamber is about 12" x 12". Has return pump in of course. The problem is that it would be akward trying to get the cup off without spilling all the time and i have larger tubing running across that is a little hard to relocate. Thats the reason i was thinking external cause i have a pretty good sized area under the stand next to the return chamber.

I see, I have no experience with external as mine are all internal but regarding brands I would look at Tunze skimmers or Deltec skimmers, both do external skimmers and are quality skimmers.
Sorry couldn't be more help :)

I have a Redsea 150sss and it has a drain in the cup and I add a hose so I can drain the cup with out removing the cup every time. It has a small foot print as well.
