solar user here..fwiw solar just feeds into the electric grid , and your electric provider deducts what it puts out from ur bill..period.. you should be looking at a whole house generator if you want continuous protection during a power outttage.I have both.

Things not in the other thread:
Roofing age/condition can be a surprise factor and cost in the build.
During install there will be a couple of power outages as they tie into existing wiring and/or replace your meter. These shouldn't be long as the prep work is done prior.
