In my third go at saltwater aquariums, I decided to use an eco-friendly rock substitute. So I ordered a large structure and small structure from www.aqua-texture.com Being ceramic, I was able to get bonsai pieces for flat areas.

But nothing is perfect. The photos were a bit deceiving and the large structure has more mass than I realized.

My waterbox tank is 24x18x18. I will be forced to keep the structure stack (highest point) in the middle. There should be 4” clearance over the top point for fish.

The benefit of the structure is there is gaps for flow. But not a ton. Leaving one side with lower flow.

So I guess my question is, where should I place my Nero 5? Back or right side? What should I do about the lower flow area? And any concerns for fish movement?

Photos in order (front, right side, and left side)

Thank you!

I by far am not the expert on where your Nero should be.

I just wanted to compliment you on the structure. It's pretty awesome and I can't wait to see a picture of it in the tank with some fish and coral.

Thank you. It’s pricey. But I learned long ago not to cut corners. Ceramic - all the reward and none of the risk. But stated dimensions didn’t give the whole picture, it has more mass than I anticipated.

Any flow experts out there?

Nice looking rock structure !!!

I would place the Nero on one of the sides. You might even need another pump as the tank matures. The only way to really know, is to fill the tank and try different placement options.

I wouldn't worry much about fish movement, imo. They'll figure it out.
