Advice on camera under $450

Looking to take awesome pictures of my reef tanks and pictures for friends as well. What's the best option for a camera for a beginner? I have background knowledge but I am clueless as far as what's the best for taking pictures of my tank.

Olympus Stylus TOUGH TG-4 Digital Camera. Underwater capability also. Daughter had this for a photography class
For the price and ease of use, features you cannot go wrong.

Just a couple shots. No Photoshop tools or anything else used. So many setting unreal. Best thing anyone can use it

It is also how we discovered my Red Bugs (find them above pic), caught early on and treated. Was able to utilize camera to confirm after treatments

Sell the Printer and the 75-300 lens. Will get you to your price range.

You can use the 18-55 lens.
Turn on all your lights.
Shoot in Raw
Manual Mode
ISO 100
AP 5.6
Auto Focus
You will have too play with the shutter speed ( for the pic brightness), but in the 35 to 100 range should be good.

When processing just do the white balance on a frag plug. Crop, and possibly sharpen. And it should look like it does in the tank.

Nikon D3300 is $446, it's the camera I use. You can look at the photos from my tank build to see what it can do, plus as a Nikon there are lots of after market things you can get!

I recommended the Sony Nex 5n because it is a great beginner camera and pretty much takes excellent photos on Auto. It is technically a point and shoot but it bridges the gap between DSLR and Point & shoot to the point where is a good starting point before wasting lots of money on a true DSLR and not having the experience of using one which leaves to frustration and dissatisfaction.
