Advice on cutting hammer stalks whilst infected?

Hi, quick question as I cans find much on Google. I may have an infection on the hammer stalks and is working its way up to the heads, I need to drag it asap.

I have one problem .. I can't find a way to get a clean cut without buying the frag jigsaw thing as nothing seems to want to go through it. Anyone got any advice on how to cut these?

Also the stalks are growing but funny enough the babies are growing too and not dying so I'm confused and wondering if not to frag all the stalks? There's about 15 to cut every stalk has about 6/10 babies.

A clean cut would require a saw. If you want cheap and simple, you could try a coping saw.

I just use side cutters; if the skeleton is healthy it actually ends up being clean enough to glue onto a plug.
