Hi guys, im new to acros and I'm so indecisive when it comes to placing new sps frags! How do you guys go about placement? How far apart do you mount your acro frags? I always put it off as im worried about getting it wrong! I've attached a pic of my tank.

I always start off low and slowly move it up. SPS placement can be a long process, you want to observe it and make sure they're getting the right amount of flow / lighting etc ( every SPS is different ) I also give my SPS plenty of room.
One you get the SPS bug inside you , it's hard to stop .
Good Luck

I think my issue is i see puttying them as permanent and like you guys say they can and will have to be moved. So you advise a minimum of 3-5 inches around each frag? How do people have these tanks with corals crammed in in close proximity to each other?!

you have to work it out, it really all comes down to tank size and frag size. Craming the corals together now may not have an affect but wait a year and you can start to have problems with touching.

Like i said it all comes down to tank size, what kind of coral and size of coral

I generally like to mount sideways or at an angle. If they need light then pointing a tip at the light and preventing the rest of if from getting much exposure doesn't work well.

It also makes observations easier as you'll more easily see how it responds on the light and dark side.
