Hello

I have a 28 gallon JBJ nano intermediate with the stand. On the stand, the main part is slightly smaller than the platform the tank sits on and that platform is raised about 3 inches from the main base by 4 silver tubes.

I have decided to replace the hood with a reef radiance LED module (132E) and due to cathedral ceilings can't hang from the ceiling, but want to hand the light so it is sitting at least 8" above tank (rails only keep it about 4" off).

QUESTION:
  • Any suggestions on how to do a DIY arm to hang light from?
  • I was thinking of taking pvc pipe, wrapping it around the two back silver cylinders with fittings and then running two sections up the back of the tank itself in the center (via t sections of PVC in the center and then attaching elbow joints at the top so I can run a section of PVC over the top of the tank.
  • In essence, I would create a wide single center arm out of PVC (maybe 3 sections of pipe wide) ran down the back and attached via elbow fittings around the rear two sections of the stand and painted black.
THOUGHTS?
SUGGESTIONS?

This was my quick and easy solution.

I used this garment rack from Target. It is very sturdy and I think it looks pretty decent. Doesn't look quite as clean as hanging a fixture from the ceiling, but I just taped the chords back behind the tube, which cleaned it up some. It goes all the way down to the floor and then it has a big horizontal foot that sits parallel with the back of the stand. I'm sure you could cut it and attach it to the back of the stand if you wanted. Not sure if this helps you at all, but I thought I would chime in.

I should mention that the black part at the elbow actually clamps down on the steel pole that is holding the light itself, so even though its tilted down slightly it's really sturdy and it's not going to go anywhere.

One more thing, the height is also adjustable by sliding the vertical pole up and down where it meets the black section behind the stand. Sorry for all of the posts it won't let me edit the previous ones.
