I’m looking for some ways to light this new 200g Deep Dimension tank for SPS Dominate mixed reef. I don't need to grow SPS colonies on the bottom glass. I’ve asked in my tank build thread with not a lot of response so I thought I’d come here!

The tank is 48x36x27

My initial thought is x2 36in Aquatic Life fixtures (x8 36in t5) hung longways and x4 radion XR 15 Pro's

What do you think and also what are your recommendations?

One option to consider:

The Kessil a360x with the narrow reflector would drive your par deep down to the bottom. Cuts the spread down to about 50 degrees wide, so it would take quite a lot of 360Xs

BRS had a very good video with the reflector on the 360X

Thanks for the tip I’ll check them out!

Found it

I'm pushing 4 right now (without the narrow lenses) and the Xs have great coral pop.
My alk intake has gone up as well.

Per BRS you set the blue at 20%, violet at 100%, red at 20% and it sure looks good on my end.

I have done this before... it is not a super easy task, but also not a super hard one.

Two rows of "normal" LEDs, 10-12 bulb T5 or MH on larger reflectors. In the end, you are going to spend the same wattage on all three of these options.

The guy who got the tank from me replaced the 3x 400w Halides with 8x xr30 Radions (two rows of 4) and a 4x of T5s in the middle, did not save any money, sold them and put the MH back on with some ReefBrites that he runs for an hour after the MH goes off. I was using the newer Hamilton 20k, so they were not all that hot.

He bought 4x xr30 thinking that they could both spread 36 deep and 27 tall since EcoTech told him that they could. He borrowed my Apogee 510 and bought another 4 within a few days.

With the Halides, I could grow most SPS on the sandbed along with clams, any LPS and softie.

My bad... I was speaking towards a 300 DD.... so take my recommendation by 2/3. Sorry about that. ...so 2x 400w Halides vs 4x xr30s, 2x xr15s and 4x 48" T5s would be the equivalent equipment list.

Might want to look into the Reef Breeders v2+ LEDs. They have excellent customer support and will have answers regarding whether or not one of their units would cover the 36” width. Might have to run two 48” units. The light will definitely have the power to penetrate the deep water column. I’m going to put one on my 150 tall (48x24x30H)
