Advice on my protein skimmer

So I bought this protein skimmer used and it's an old reef octopus model and the part that takes in air is so loud!! What can I do to fix it

Is it just the open hose? It should have a plastic "muffle" on it, not sure what the exact name is, to help reduce the noise.

Do you have a muffler/silencer on the airline? If not, these can be purchased or DIY'ed easily.

It literally sounds like someone is sucking on a straw to get the last bit of a drink out of a cup but louder

Thats odd, should be fairly quiet. Clean the venturi, salt and calcium does build up over time.
