Firstly thanks for taking the time to read and help.

I failed miserably on my first qt(tank2tank) with a hippo tang.Added him to display with brook and intestinal parasites. Tang didnt make it but rest of fish being treated for parasites in QT. 2 small clowns,1 lawnmower blenny,1 cardinal.

My new plan is to order fish from online(local lfs sold me the sick tang) and use cupramine from the start.

Fast forward to today fallow period is over and i placed an online order for the following fish

Tailspot blenny
Hippo tang
Orange shoulder tang
Strawberry psudeochromis
Glass cardinal
Brittle starfish

My plan is to use my (2) ten gallon tanks for 14 days of cupramine follow by 14 days in observation no copper. I plan to treat all fish but not the starfish.

My questions

Is 10g qt big enough for all of them? They are all small in size.

Is cupramine ok for the fish i got?

Am i wrong for automatically treating with cupramine.

Thanks
Cory

Humblefish’s ‘how to quarantine’ in the fish disease forum is also a worthwhile read. Lots of different approaches to QT. Some prefer going straight to medications, others (like me) prefer a wait and see approach. Dual 10 gallon tanks should be fine for those fish as long as they are small.

Depends on the fish. Some fish that are notorious for succumbing to ich like Achilles and powder blues id treat immediately as I found that if they get ich on arrival and they’re stressed from shipping and possibly not eating they die pretty fast before copper or medication can kick in.
I’d say a single 10 gallon is small for all those l. Also a 20 gallon which is not a lot larger will allow u double water volume so double the capacity before u get significant spikes of ammonia or nitrites and also easier to handle salinity shifts from evaporation if ur doing hypo.
I’d also deworm and treat for parasites, a prazipro cycle or two can’t harm.
