Hey everyone, got the company to consider doing a tank in our showroom and they decided they wanna do a tall rectangular shape amd was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to what thickness, glass or acrylic. And a good place to order from. Tank dimensions not set in stone, but 30x20x70 was what we were thinking

I'd recommend glass for its scratch resistant properties and thickness will depend on the gallons of the tank? What size are you thinking of going with?

Apologies

[Apologies, i thought i put dimensions lol. The size isnt set in stone but a rough idea LxWxH would be 30"x20"x70"

@Eldin, just checking for clarity... are you considering 30" long x 20" wide x 70" tall? Is that correct? Thanks so much!

Yes, that is correct.
@Eldin...... 70 Tall.... hmmmm... Do you want Acrylic or Glass?

Here is a tank Glass Cages built for MIT. This one is 36" x 36" x 120" Tall. Glass Cages built this with 2-1/2" thick Acrylic. Pictures below. Very Cool!!!

I am not sure what your budget looks like, that means so many different things to everyone. Some may think this build would be expensive and others not.

Go For It!!!!

Oh boy I hope you hire someone to clean that... and a scuba suit!
Even with scuba gear 30x20 is going to be too narrow to maneuver in. Interesting concept but I don't see how those dimensions could possibly be workable.

Right... how do you plan to clean this monster?
I was thinking some tyoe of diy long reach syphon for the sand, and diy some long reach glass cleaners. More than likely will be FOWLR due to potential lightning issues at that depth

I wasnt sure on thickness, was thinking glass for less likelyhood of scratching. Ive seen 3/4 and up to 2" inch so want really sure how to determine which thickness.
