I am currently QTing

7 Green Chromis
1 Chocolate Tang
1 Hippo Tang

All in a 40 gallon breeder. I have had the fish for going on 2 weeks now and this evening I will be treating for flukes and other parasites with API General cure. Afterwards I don't know if I should do a 12 day TTM or a 30 day copper treatment.

I have seen no indications of ich, brook, or velvet as of yet and all fish are eating and behaving normally but, I know the symptoms can be delayed. Am I in the clear if I begin TTM or would you all still recommend 30days in copper?

I am only asking because these fish are being QT'd for my father-in-laws tank and preventing me from going fallow in my tank (I would like to start sooner rather than later as it's already going to be a 2.5 month ordeal).

TTM only treats ich, so you would be in the clear for that. Brook and Velvet however, would not be addressed. If the supplier you purchased from uses copper in their system, the symptoms of those diseases could take several weeks to well over a month to show up! Given the prevalence of velvet these days, personally, I'd opt for the copper.

Disclaimer, copper does not treat brook so you will still need to lookout for that. And with chromis, uronema. Metroplex treats both of these, and in this case I might recommend that be added to your course of treatment as well. It can be done in conjunction with copper.

Ultimately, the best course of action would be to do the 30 days? Guess that's what I'll do. As far as Uronema. What are symptoms of that?

@ngoodermuth this morning I saw what seemed to be ich on the hippo Tang so I will proceed to treat for ich. What is considered ramping up slowly?

Quick question I used some ammonia reducer in the QT tank about a week ago (likely longer but conservatively a week). Since then I've done at least 2 water changes of 15 gallons each. I also treated the first dose of API general cure on Friday June 2nd and the second dose yesterday June 4th. I plan to do another 15gal water change tomorrow and run some carbon to get rid of the API Med. This morning I noticed the hippo Tang showing signs of what appears to be ich. What should I do in preparation to treat with Kordon CopperAid?

X2 I agree. Definitely don't rely on TTM in today's velvet-ridden world :(

Should I go to the LFS and get some coppersafe? I know that works with the test kit that I have

CopperSafe is good stuff - works the way they say it will.

Ngoodermuth's right - Kordon's "Safe Copper Aid" is fairly fraudulently diluted. The 4oz bottle claims to treat 100 gallons - it took three and a half of them to reach therapeutic in a 75. What's that - 1/4?

Well I have 2 bottles that I can use in my 75 until coppersafe comes in the mail. Will it be an issue to use 2 different types of copper med

Both CopperSafe and Kordon's product are chelated copper. (Reading the directions for the two products, I wondered which one was copied from the other's sheet!) It's a long way from ideal, but I think you could probably get away with it in this case. (I know the temptation to _do_something_ would be strong for me!) It might ease any issues if you run a decent water change when the CopperSafe arrives - remembering to add copper to the water as 0r before it goes into the tank, so that the level doesn't drop.
