e the coral and throw the rock away

do you have access to a bandsaw or dremel? That would be the easiest and most non-destructive way.
If you dont...you can take a chisel and hammer and break the rock just under where the stems/encrusted corals are.

You dont have to throw the rock away. You can set it out of the tank for a week or so and all the living things on it will be gone. But also the "live" portion of the live rock.

If you have an LFS, look for peppermint shrimp that jump on your hand when inserted into the tank at the store (ask if its ok to do this first lol) those ones usually will eat the aiptasia.

Couple of different ways to go about this. If the aptasia is only on that one rock you are very lucky. You could buy a peppermint shrimp and add it to the tank , it will make quick work of the pest , but now you have a peppermint shrimp in there that can get an appetite for other polyp type of corals . If it was only on that rock I would get a shrimp and place it in my sump along with that rock piece and in a short time it will be picked clean of the annoying pest. If a sump option isn't possible, chisel away at the rock at the base of the coral . There are other ways with injections of this or that but good luck trying to inject each one with the magic potion .

Hi thank you all for the advice. I dont have access to a bandsaw. I could try the sump idea. I have tried the injection but they came back. There is about 10 to 12 aptasia's on this rock.

If i get a pepper shrimp would it eat my zoas.

It could get a taste for them or it may leave them alone . That is why placing them in the sump if possible is safer , less of a head ache. You just don't know what they will pick on . I have used the peppermint shrimp in the past and I find they will pick on other corals so I use them and then spend my life trying to trap the little buggers. Secluding them in the sump eliminates the hassle , but it is possible to catch , they are hungry critters and will stop at nothing to get a tasty morsel.

Ive never had any experiences with peppermint shrimp eating my zoas/palys but once I got rid of my aiptasia, I took them back to the store. They like to steal food from my acans during feeding time
