What's the best brand or which brand do you use?
And best prices or best deals at Macna if anyone knows...

Never been to Macna.. hoping to get good deals on a few things we still need..... lol

I use one from Bulk Reef Supply. I got the 75 gallon Unit and it works well for me.

What price range are those in? Looking for best unit for best deal and have never had one but need one now. ..

I also use the 5 stage 75 GPD one from Bulk Reef Supply. I also got the drinking water kit with it, which was a little more but totally worth it.

the 5 stage from BRS will run you about $160. The optional drinking water kit with faucet is another $75

Ok cool thank you... is that the avg price of rodi units? ... will they have a booth or anything at macna.? Hoping for deals there on saturday...

I don't know if they'll be there or not. I went to MACNA last year but already had my system so I didn't really pay attention if anyone had them there for sale.

I think it's a good price. I've not had any issues with it and filters are readily available at BRS and easy to change out when needed.

I also put a pressure gauge and TDS meter on mine

In my research BRS was the cheaper. I got mine on black Friday and it was even cheaper.

Nothing comes close to Spectrapure, nothing. Ask the others if they specially treat and test their membranes to improve performance, is they use the much better absolute ratedsediment filters in 1 micron or smaller sizes, if they eliminate the old antiquated second unneeded carbon, if they custom blend every ounce of their DI resins based on thousands of hours of testing, if they include an inline pressure gauge even on their lower end systems of if they use the much better capillary tube flow restrictors, and if you can get all this for $129?

There really is a difference.

BRS is not cheaper when you compare component by component, you are not getting the same things and these are important when you look at long term cost of operation and maintenance.

Have you tested the 2 to 1 waste ratio? Just wondering not knocking the system.

The Spectrapure systems come with capillary tube flow restrictors you the end user trim yourself to whatever waste ratio suits you. If your water conditions are good enough, meaning soft water and lower than normal TDS, you can run 2:1 easily and still get good membrane and DI life. If its a little harder or higher TDS maybe use the 3:1 restrictor they provide and if it is like Phoenix or much of the Southwest you stick with 4:1 wast ratio. All their systems come with a detailed owners manual with setp by step instruction on how to set them up.
Here is the $129 system:
FACTORY REFURBISHED

Don't let the refurbished name fool you, they are top of the line but may have a scuff or scratch somewhere cosmetically.

The Rat.. I did fine the $129 system after I asked. My water sucks so I'm sure it would be 4 to 1.. Looks like a good system. Thought about trying the filters in my BRS system wonder if they would work.

Yes thay are standard 10" size filters. I use the 0.2 micron absolute ZetaZorb pleated sediment filter, 0.5 micron 20,000 gallon carbon block, tested and guaranteed 98+% rejection rate 90 GPD RO membrane and MaxCap and SilicaBuster DI cartridges myself. I'm in Phoenix with a tap water TDS around 550 but do have a water softener so could probably get away with 2 or 3:1 but I bought their MaxCap UHE ultra low waste system which uses stored DI water to flush the system using a microprocessor so run at around 1:1 wast ratio and am still getting better than 99.3% rejection rate from RO only after over 5 years of usage on teh same membrane that came with it. Again, you really do get what you pay for and their 28+ years experience in designing and building RO/DI systems pays off. They don't just slap systems together, everything is well thought out and tested for years before they bring it to market. They are innovators not imitators in my book and hold many copyrights, trademarks and patents for their engineering and designs.

Spectrapure Refurb user here. Its has been Flawless , they only way to tell it wasn't new was the packaging. Getting 0 TDS every time.

I have a Spectrapure refurb and LOVE it. Best $130 I've ever spent. I also have a booster pump, flush kit and pre-filter for the booster pump. I run mine at 120 PSI and get a 1:1 ratio. I can do this because my TDS is low, around 140. Tech at Spectrapure said that anything under 200TDS the system can run a 2:1 with no problem, I just push my to a 1:1 cause it saves on waste water. I've been running this system now for 4-5 months, haven't had to replace a single filter and I'm still getting 2TDS going into the membrane and 0 coming out of the DI. Spectrapure really has the best components for RODI systems around, so look into getting one. My refurb was considered a refurb because one of the filter holders was chipped on the corner. But the system looks 100% brand new other than that.
