Hey everyone! I have one VorTech MP-10 on the upper right side of my tank - a pictures below so you can get an idea where it’s at. I’m planning on having an SPS dominant tank.

Do you think I need one more MP-10? If yes, do you have any recommendations on where to place it? Left side across from the current power head? On the same side but closer to the back of the tank and lower? The tank has 43 gallons in the display.

I have the current VorTech turned up all the way on reef crest random and there’s a pretty noticeable dead spot in flow in the back right corner of the tank. Thanks!

Yeah you will need more than one. My friend has the same tank and runs two icecap gyres, it has great flow. Maybe you could do a mp10 and a Gyre or 2-3 mp10’s.

If you look on the Ecotech web site there’s a flow calculator and you just put in your tank dimensions and it tells you what you need and flow rates etc. See below

Thanks for the info SPR1968. Looks like I will need another MP10 to get in the ‘optimal flow’ range for SPS.

Am I doing something wrong as it won’t let me enter any MP10s? Is it suggesting an MP10 is too small for a Reefer 170? It’s what I was recommended to get. Also what is the ‘output actually showing/saying - apologies if I’m being a bit slow.

That is cool. I tried it. It recommended my 90 gal would only need a single mp40 for sps ;Bookworm. There is no way.
