I don't know where to begin with all of this because there are so many pieces of equipment involved and so many variations of each piece of equipment. So far I have Waterbox 4820 (72 gal) (freshwater) that I'm trying to replace with one that has a built-in overflow. If that doesn't happen, I'll likely be using a HOB overflow (or maybe drilling, we'll see). I'm not sure how that is going to affect what goes in the cabinet below the tank.

Space in cabinet:
44" L x 18" W
about 30" height

What I think I need (and want):
Sump
- 20 gal or so
- could be a glass tank and I get one of those sump kits.
- could be an economical sump but not one that skimps on space or what I need

Skimmer
- Efficient and doesn't require frequent maintenance
- Fits in sump

Filter Roller
- Does this work with an HOB overflow?
- Fits sump

Return pump
- Flow control?
- Can be controlled via app, or just smart plug?

Anything else?

I literally don't have a clue about where to even begin or how to connect everything. Hard pipes, soft tubes, valves, where to put them, where not to put them. Any advice is appreciated. This stuff takes years to master, I'm sure.

Oh, thermometer(s), redundancy things.. I don't know what else. I'm gonna get an MP40 or two... or MP10.

This is a very broad question. A thorough response to all of this will be multiple pages of explanation. I recommend you talk to 1 person you trust about this versus patchworking different opinions together. If you'd like I can hop in a discord call with you and give you my thoughts.

Above all, take it slow and research each topic individually. It really pays off to do the legwork and make a solution that works best for you, not 10 different reefers on an internet forum.
