From the recent pics it could be red turf algae mixed with a species of coraline algae, What’s the texture of the algae like?

It's not slimy but slick. Also it doesnt blow or brush off. But will scrape off. Also I noticed when it started up all my pineapple sponges disappeared.

Is it fuzzy, hairy in some areas?

Fuzzyish? Kinda sorta velvety in the darker colored areas

Just a few millimetres high? If so am very keen to say red turf algae, did you mentioned some of your snails were eating it? It’s normally a pain to completely eradicate

Yes. Not very thick at all. And if u look in the pics of the Cavey rock u can see where the snails have been eating it. If it helps theres a few astrea snails and a trochus

It is maroon coralline. I have/had it in my tank as well. Under actinic it fluoresces orange. I have also had cyano that looks exactly like it, except it blows off and does not fluoresce. Under whites, the look very similar, except the cyano looks like suede.

I am not sure if the only the new growth fluoresces or all of it.

So theoretically I have a multitude of stuff going on then... some stuff does orange fluoresce. Some doesnt. I've got multiple shades of red going on in there. Also it seems there is a dusting of diatoms in places. As well a lil gha has appeared and theres green patches showing on my glass near the substrate

It's a reef tank. You are going to have all kinds of stuff growing and out competing each other over time.
All tanks go through the 'uglies', until the dominant algae (usually coralline in a perfect world) takes over. I would not worry about nor do anything about it, unless it becomes an issue. The natural reaction is to remediate it, but the tanks ecosystem is probably way ahead of you, and whatever critter eats the newly arrived algae, that will be the critter that you notice come on the scene next (assuming you are adding frags and stuff to the tank).

Outstanding. So my letting it be and adding livestock slowly is basically doing what I should?

Yup. Typically the reefer's desire to fix an issue will often complicate things that would have worked themselves out if left alone.

However, some issues do require expedient action to prevent a small problem from turning into a big problem (aptasia, bubble algae, dinos, etc.). It never hurts to come and post a picture of a concern and see what the community's advice is as well.

^^
Looks to be what you'd expect while your tank matures. Lucky you you've got some life that people who start with dry rock may never see.

You're going to see more in the near future. Keep up with blowing your rock off with a pump or turkey baster.
Eventually it will calm down.
