AEFW eggs on new frag

this is so upsetting Divers den is one of my top vendors that I trusted I know you are supposed to assume anything you get from anyone should be considered suspect and that mistakes happen but still unsettling hope your frag pulls thru and that nothing got in the dt

+1 to this

if it came from DD maybe that piece was infected directly from ORA...uh oh

I wouldn't risk it...those aefw are real nasty buggers

btw nobody is immune to these things even divers den, trust me, they are very, very stealth

Cut that frag take only the top inch and trash the rest...

Idk maybe just trash the whole thing.

I don't risk things like that in my tank.

It can happen to anyone,

You can make some of the people happy all the time, and u can make a all of the people happy some of the time but u can't make all the people happy all of the time...

Have you contacted DD?

I buy from ORA, as I'm sure lots of vendors here do, and have never found any pests coming from their corals...knock on wood.

Subscribing to this one.

Diver's Den has been made aware and they seemed quite surprised. Although the frag was only listed on the website for a day, when I inquired about its history they said it had been in their system for 6 months and that corals in that system are under an active iodine dip schedule.

I've never seen AEFW or their eggs in person and noticed it right away, so I'm amazed they didn't catch it.

Well they definitely have some sort of infestation in their system. If it were there for 6 months, it definitely didn't come in with AEFW. In that time span the coral would have died. So most likely many of their corals have AEFW. Too bad iodine isn't all that effective against these things unless applied in massive doses.

FYI, just checked all new frags that came into my store today from ORA and no signs of AEFWs.

Hope you can sort this out and it would be nice if someone from DD steps in and lets everyone know what's going on.

Iodine dip does nothing to aefw.

I would not risk putting that frag into any of my systems. Throw it away. I am in the process of battling aefw. No frag is worth what I am going through.

Hate to say it, but just by putting that sucker in ur sump, u could have potentially infected ur tank. Granted chances are slim, I'd keep an eye out for bite marks. I wouldn't wish an aefw infestation on my worst enemy.

DTA don't trust anybody!

Treat all frags as though infected.

I would suspect divers den and not ORA. Divers den gets a lot of wild pieces in so I wouldn't be so shocked as to get a pest from them.
