AEFW id? Bad pictures and details inside

Hello all,

I recently started up a new tank, 14 gallons, sps dominated, about 3 months old now. Over the past week I've noticed a heck of a lot of reddish-brown flatworms showing up, ranging in size from the tip of a pencil to 1/4 inch. I'm hoping somebody versed in AEFW can help me determine if these are harmless or the dreaded AEFW. I have not had a flatworm outbreak to date, so part of me wants to believe this may be temporary and the population will level itself off in time. I do not notice bite marks or eggs on any frags, and have only lost 1 frag since beginning the tank. That frag was a piece of a wild caught acropora colony which never grew in my system - and the LFS said they lost their mother colony shortly after as well.

Below I took two pictures. They might be huge so I apologize in advance. On the glass and white background area you can see one, along with a smaller one on the glass and white background. Please let me know what you think - AEFW or harmless "who knows" sp. of flatworms?

Keep in mind AEFW are very small at first and hard to see with the naked eye. Since the ones in your pics are appearing on your glass and you don't see any bite marks or eggs, I would guess that these are just regular flatworms and you could rid your entire system of them using a product like Salifert Flatworm Exit. Harmless unless in massive quantities, the AEFW will only be found on your Acropora corals. The eggs will be on the coral or nearby the coral.

Good to know, thank you. I was not sure if the AEFW would roam but that answers that.

Thank you Curtis. They look like Acoel flatworms but I will have to do more research before planning their removal
