Hello guys

I've have a acro in my invert quarantine tank that was looking a bit off so I decided to dip in dettol and 2 adult flat worms dropped off. I've checked all over the frag with a magnifying glass and cannot see any eggs.

I have 6 frags of montipora palawensis and a few zoas I want to add from this quarantine to my display. What is the chances of flat worms or their eggs on the zoas an montis? Would I be safe moving them over?

Thanks

If you're worried dip those too before you put them in the tank. I don't think AEFW will lay eggs on zoas or montis

I'll dip them before moving I was just worried about moving eggs across

They can lay them on rock, frag plugs, between tissue and the frag plug. They are pretty tricky. Dip them a few times over the next few weeks and keep an eye out. You can make a wormwood solution if you think that you might see some new bite marks.

You think they would only lay them on the acros?

Only on skeleton very near to the live tissue. This is not possible when they get started so they lay them very near... then as they kill back some tissue, they will lay them on the dead branches.

So I should be pretty safe with the non acro frags then

They might carry a lost specimen from one tank to another, but they cannot live without acropora for long.

Very interesting.... I only have 3 acro frags in the tank so I'll dip those weekly for a month before I move anything just to be safe. I'm hoping I've caught them early so shouldn't be too many
