Last night while dipping a new mille frag, I noticed this pretty decent sized flatworm come flying off of it. I have excellent vision but I haven't fully developed my "super flatworm vision" quite yet.

I picked up this mille last night from a local seller and almost immediately after dipping it in Coral RX, a number of pods came flying off along with a few flatworms. I did a 15 minute dip then lightly brushed over it with a soft bristle tooth brush. I then cut it roughly 1/8" from the base, dipped it in NSW and mounted it on a fresh plug.

I decided to dose the NSW with more Coral RX and left it for 5-10 minutes longer in an attempt to get any stragglers off. (It appeared sterile this time around)

I proceeded to do a final rinse and then mounted it in my tank. It had awesome PE shortly after and it appears to be incredibly healthy now.

Anyways I'm having trouble identifying whether this was a red bug or an AEFW that came off of it? It doesn't appear to have the fork like tail which leaves me clueless. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

look for bite marks on all your acros. AEFW are a pita but not unbeatable. I tried the dipping and qt method for 7 weeks and as soon as they went back in the tank the aefw were back. What finally beat them for me was KZ Flatworm Stop used in conjunction with KZ K-Balance and saw an overnight increase in PE, and within a week color was returning to affect colonies. Now 2 and half months later no aefw bites or signs of them. Not a single dip for the 2.5 months i have been using the KZ products. Supposedly the combination of products causes SPS to create an increased slime coat, which stops AEFW from damaging the acros, and also some say it causes the acros to to be less tasty for the aefw's. This product does not kill aefw but starves them out, and is recommended to use for 3 months at least. Me personally will be dosing this forever as a preventive as i have experienced its greatness and saved $1000s of acros. Again orgianally i moved all my acros to a qt, and dipped twice a week for 7 weeks and this didnt do jack, i tried the KZ products as a last hope (as it seemed like snake oil) and much to my suprise it actually worked!

nice. Im setting a 14g coral QT to do pretty much exactly that. And was looking at FWE depending on the coral for eggs.
thanks for the recommend.

Def not redbugs. Not sure on aefw but keep a lookout for bite marks, that's the telltale sign. I hope for you it's not. But if it is its beatable, just a pain.

My question is, what is the likeliness of red bugs surviving a 25 minute soak in Coral RX? I used slightly more than the recommended dose but I'm somewhat stressed that I put the frag in my DT with red bugs tightly latched onto it.
