OK AFTER TAKING ALL MY ACROS FROM MY DISPLAY TANK AND AFTER A COUPLE OF CORAL X DIPS ONE OF MY FRIENDS DECIDED TO TREAT WITH LEVAMISOLE AND AFTER A FEW TREATMENTS I LOST ALL MY ACROS!!!31 TO BE EXACT!!! I REMOVE ALL MY ACROS FROM MY DISPLAY TANK ON JUNE 5,THE ONLY CORALS LEFT ON MY TANK JUST TO NAME A FEW /CHALICES /MONTIPORAS /BIRD NEST /SETOSA /SOUR APPLE . OK NOW MY QUESTION DO I HAVE TO TAKE ALL MY CORAL OUT FOR A MONTH OR NOT? IN ORDER TO KILL THE AEFW AND TO PUT ACROS IN MY TANK AGAIN:ooh: PLEASE HELP!!!

troylee so i can leave all my other corals in my tank ??? no need to treat my tank ???

As long as all the acros are out of the tank, the worms will have nothing to feed on. The will not harm LPS or montis so you can leave those in the tank. But all acros, and any trace of acros (including any piece that is encrusted on the rock - no matter how small) HAVE to be out of the tank or it will not work. Hope that helps.

uchin all my acros were move to a quarentine tank at a friend house that was having AEFW too.it look to me like he overdose the corals but thats part of the fun!!!

thanks graig i put glue and epoxy on all remainig encrusted coral so im sure i have no life acros on my tank!!! i removed the epoxy after a month.

so the new cure isn't all what it's cracked up to be????

Hmm....

I dunno yet. I'm holding off until we can see what happens. There have been a few successful. I think the key to success with the in-tank Levamisole will be the current health of the aquarium/corals. I'm not seeing much, if any, damage these days. My tricolor is growing and the tips are purple again. I can't even get any to come off with basting.

I feel like I would have a better chance of success than someone who rips their coral out (stressor), puts them in a new tank (stressor), new flow (stressor), new light (stressor), new parameters (stressor), and then starts dipping the ever loving xoozanthallae out of them.

But it is all too new to be sure - I might go LPS after I start dosing, too.... :(

Blah!!!! Not what I wanted to hear.. there is gotta be a easy cure like red bugs that's totally
Safe and effective even if over dosed...:( hmmm wish I knew more about meds haha

If you want to start playing, I'd focus on nicotine derived meds.... Those seem to have the most promise - just need to find the right one. I've tried a couple that don't work - I know that for sure!

And I can promise that the standard reef "dips" are pretty bad as well. Bayer Insecticide is a great preventative dip, FWIW. 10ml in 1/2 cup for 5 minutes - AEFW, Red bugs, Monti nudis, etc - all toast. Still gotta QT though for eggs.

Nicotine huh??? Maybe I can start putting my cigs out in the tank ahahahah... Just playing... As for the Bayer yeah that's a great improvement in the hobby... All this just makes keeping sticks more challenging than they already are... Lol of it wasn't for the challenge I prolly wouldn't be interested in them.... I'm always up for a good challenge... "get bored easily"

I hear ya there.

The best part of the Bayer is that I haven't lost color on the frags I'm testing. So far, that list includes: Red Planet, Pink lemonade, Miami Orchid, $500 Efflo, Purple Monster, Sunset mille, and a couple no namers - tri color, etc.

Revive, Coral RX, and all the other bottled meds always caused frags to stress out and brown. The Bayer just makes them slime up a bit.

Well I have always used revive and got all sorts of results from browning to nothing... Instant death a few times and peeling 20 minutes later..:( my last go around with dips I used coral rx one shot this was my first time using it... Corals seem to have no reaction to the dip and there colors held... I might be making the switch... Also the water stayed clear not a milky white so finding or spotting pest was way more simple... I have 3 different size clear acrylic boxes I made with a white bottom just for dipping... I have a quart for frags a half gallon and a gallon for colonies... It makes it super simple to accurately measure the water and dosage and very easy to see everything that falls off onto the white bottom...;) I'll have to post a diy thread on them I have been meaning to..

well guys it look that im going to wait a few more weeks before get some new acros !!!thks for the help:bigsmile:
