I have a 150 gallon SPS dominant reef with mostly acropora. Unfortunately I have discovered some signs of AEFW. Some colonies are showing faded colors, eggs, bare skeleton underneath, and some bite marks. This is my first time dealing with them and I plan to drain the water and spray everything with Potassium Chloride and refill. Repeat this process multiple times.
The colonies that are grown on the rocks are encrusted significantly and there is no way I would be able to take each acro out and dip.
I believe this is the early stage of infestation. I do have a 6 line that is always looking very plump so who knows when the AEFW got in, but now I am seeing damage.
For those of you that have used this process (hopefully someone), what are some tips to completing this? Rate of success? Invert concerns? What do you do after refilling the tank with the KCL in the water?
Thanks, Paul
