Sorry for the bad pics but can anyone confirm or deny my fears of aefw:/

Did you dip it in bayer or an iodine solution? That does look like some bite marks. On a positive note it looks pretty early if it is AEFW. But you need to dip it to confirm

If you put your coral in a white bowl & use melafix they will come off. They are semi transparent but are easier to see against a white background. They also lay egg clusters. Look for the egg clusters.

No I haven't yet but I will start.

what do the eggs look like? Easy to see?

The first thing you should do before freaking out is dip your coral and see if you have any aefw's fall off, if you do then you can freak out : )

Eggs are usually on the base of the coral or on the plug, very small orange, do a google image search, not super easy to see though sometimes.

If you see any clusters of eggs in a piece of coral that has defleshed you may be in trouble. Look at your coral at night with a flashlight to see if their are copepods eating it too. More than one pest in this hobbie.
