My pc rainbow has a few spots of flesh that is dying. Been going on for a month or so. I just dipped but did not see any evidence of the worms. What does everyone think? Could it be something else?

Not enough info to go by. Can you get close pics of the damaged area. Will be helpful but what are your parameters, what do u do for phospate removal, I had situations like that before when I put in a new patch of gfo. The coral always healed. But if it's stn from stress on the coral caused by let say aefw then ther should be marks on the coral

I don't use gfo for phosphate removal, just have some chaeto.

Parameters are steady at...
Ca 400
Mag 1500
Alk 8.2
Salinity .35
Nitrates 2ppm
Phos .04 last time I checked. Been over a month
Temp range 78-80
Ph 7.8-8.2

Do the bite marks look like chunks bitten off the coral?

they can look like spots were tissue had been taken off. try looking with a magnifing lens and see if you see bite marks or eggs on the underside of the coral or dead tissue. I dont think you have them from the picture but then again very hard to tell from that pic. does the coral have any polyp extension? if you dipped it then you would have seen some come off

It does have good pe. Tissue is definetly gone, just not sure why. Didn't see any after the dip

try giving it an iodine dip but wait a little since you just dipped it. If the tissue that is missing starts getting a little dark like almost getting algea then it will heal but if it getts bigger and bigger from day to day then it will keep going. at that point the only chouce is to frag it and save a chunk. I think it will make it since its not from the bottom of the coral.

It has gotten worse, slowly. It has also spread to few other branched

Then it's rtn or stn. Unfortunately there is one thing that can possibly work is to cut a good part of it and reglue it and hoping it makes it. In some cases it does and some cases it doesn't. Try cutting a quarter inch higher than were it missing tissue.

You can also leave it and possibly you will only loose a section of it. Being that it's branchy and it started higher up it might only go bad the upper PC but if the recession go down then it will keep going

If it continues to get worse I will cut. Hate doing that, it finally looking really good. Thanks for the suggestions.
