AEFW?

Hi guys,

I have some kind of pest on one of my acros - i've fragged this branch to show the pest. The pest is more or less the same colour as the coral, although it doesn't move so I don't think it's a nudi. My guess is AEFW but I'm wondering what the experts think

I've dipped it with a double dose of treatment (NT labs coral dip) but nothing has come off...

Looks like it fell on a rock and got a little scraped areas. I don’t see any bite marks with a quick look and it looks really healthy. The white area could be from a finger rubbing it maybe and the spots look like polyps or areas where growth is starting.

Could the circled bit be bite marks?

The big white patch is from my first attempt to break it off with bone cutters.

Usually when you have AEFW a dip will make them fall of pretty easily.

I agree it’s not defined like normal bites. But I have seen spiders and other wierd pests make funny damage like that but I would not worry that piece looks pretty healthy to me.

Agreed not afew, looks like inconsistencies in the spread of zooxanthelle. Do yo have a fish that nibbles? Foxface, blenny etc.

flatworm work from the base up and have more solid round bites.. I've seen some more irregular but I wouldnt worry your will heal pretty fast.

The small purple patches don't look normal to me and they don't look like part of the coral. I can't remember seeing them before too.

Yes, two blennies and a fox.

And blennies are notorious for munching too bit normally leave a ring where they mouth the flesh.
