I have a 54-gal corner tank that gave me lots of trouble for months after initial setup. I'm running canister filters (now two(2) Oase Biomaster 600). And I'm running active aeration in that tank using two of the 8" flat airstones along the sides too. I found that I just couldn't get enough gas exchange in that fully-covered configuration without forced aeration and keep the pH stable (8.0 - 8.3). The system runs well now, but my question is...
Is forced aeration bad for marine life? Does it annoy certain species or have other not-so-readily-evident side effects?

You are going to hate the amount of salt creep the air stones are going to create. As far as inhabitants being stressed I’m not sure.
