It has come that time to shake things up a bit and re-stimulate the mind with a new system, and project build.

I am starting this thread to both get the ideas from the masses with the build, and to keep myself motivated in the direction. I have been growing weary of my current 90g system, and with the idea of making our family a lil bigger hear in the future - a lot would need changed for that system anyways. It's a death trap over there with all those zoas, cords mixing water and electricity along with openness is no bueno.lol

Realized something over my time with the last system about what I like
- I like having every and any coral I can and simply like watching them grow

Had contemplated just doing a large shallow flat where I could grow and photograph corals - but that really just didnt make sense and I would go nuts not being able to work with an aquascape and placement - So this is what I came up with-

I have pretty much everything I need to make this a go except I need to build the structure/stand and get the large sump either purchased or made - depends on pricing there.

I'll get a pic of the area I am working with up before explaining to give a better idea of what I am thinking.

Here is the room where the new build will be going. This room is terrible with no windows and a glass slider. Its the common room for the house and is shaped long and sum what wide with a lot of areas of wasted space (due to being able to work with placement in the room)
The box build will be taking place on the wall to the right of the 90g between the tank and the slider door where the cube is.

Hey i have the sump from the 200 you could use cause i am going to build my own for it when it comes time

Thanks tiger but I think that 1 is to narrow for what I am planning. Just found out this morning my back up plan for the large sump fell thru(had the tank 2 months ago and went against my better judgement and sold-argh) so looks like custom may be the only option now.

My biggest problem I am running into is making the fish room box blend as part of the room. Basically I am building a large stand to give an idea(that will hold the tank inside). It will be housing all the fish room stuff and work area and off to the side I will run the cube on its own stand. I am looking to get the large sump(hoping for 48x30x17 or so) a quarentien tank, fuge, plumbing and electric, etc all to be in the large new piece of furniture. Basically I want it all in one easy to work with area being able to close it off from any little children that might be running around.

for the fish room box I am thinking a structure with around these dimensions - 48" tall 40" wide and around 6' long. So if you can picture that - it is a large box. My problem that I need some ideas with from you all - is different ways to make this look more fitting for the room. Where it is going really is just wasted space in the room and always has space filler furniture we dont use over there - but that isnt saying a 4'x6' box is just going to look good sitting there.

So what are some ideas to make it more fitting
have thought of reinforcing the top and adding a 40breeder up there to make it look like its supposed to be there?
using plants and track lighting on top to make it look built out from the wall
getting artistic with the outside?? ideas
using the behind the cut out wood with stain glass look for light show when lights on under there

any ideas - really struggling with this part because I have to imagine how it will look rather than being able to see it and know that I like it.

A layout of room with measurements or a drawing would be helpful. Do you have a plan on sump? # of baffles and location? I coyld draw something up and maybe fig out glass cost would be rimless

I have rough guesstimates - I will pop those up after work to help the ideas flow

Good luck with the build and I gotta say the chair placement is great for optimal viewing. I keep a couch close to my 120 so that I can watch that (it helps since the wife and I got rid of the TV- kids where watching to much anyway and now they can help watch the tank!)

oh yeah.... go make your bed!
