Small Reef developing lps sps and such? 54 gallon tank well maintained. Need one Angel.. Flame or Flame Back Pigmy?

You can but both are a risk.
I had to remove my Flameback because it munched corals.

All pygmies are a risk though and some more than others... The one I have the most luck is the Caribbean pygmy (Cherub).

Ok Thanks . Cherub is a candidate., I have not established coral reef yet. Introduce the angel as it is getting established or after corals are fully established?

Flame back is your best bet in a 54 they stay smaller than most pygmys. Corals are hit and miss with all though.

Thank you for you advice. Flame is out. Smaller is better. I am wondering though? Should I add the Angelfish first or get coral established first?

Flameback is an extremely beautiful Pygmy angel. Here is my three in a 65 gal. So far so good. I have not have them for long. SPS likely to be OK. I am not sure about the fleshy LPS corals and clams.
I keep both Flame and Flameback. Flame tend to get dark under very bright reef light aquarium. Flameback color does not change according to my research. Will see in a few months.

Nice! How did you manage to get three of them to play well with each other?

I assume they are long live. 10+.
This is my first venture into Flameback angels. They seem to be slight more aggressive than Flame Angels. I just put three small ones together. Dwarf Angels are OK together if you don’t keep them in such tight quarters and don’t put two males together. Of these three the first only had for 3 weeks and the others about 10 days. All three have been together for 10 days. Pecking order establish with no wound or torn fins.
they should do well. The least healthy was my first one, smallest and emaciated but have gain a lot of weight and is fat now. She was at the LFS for many weeks in a medicated system with minimal food. She is doing great. The other two I pick up directly from the LFS prior to put into the LFS’s tank.
All three eating pellets and Nori well now.
I started a thread on them and will keep it update.
