African steel blue too far open?

So I've been slowly acllimating my African steel zoa frag to the display. It's about a third of the way off the sand bed on some live rock. Even when the LEDS are set really low and ramping up these polyps seem to be so far open they're bending backwards. They almost look like a garden mushroom. Is this normal, or should I move them? Every other polyp I've had closes up if it doesn't like the light.

Really? They're stretching as well like they're not getting enough light? You think they might be getting over exposed?

Yes. And I noticed they're slightly brown. Which could be them just getting used to the lighting but they're all stretching and Bent backwards.

What do you think guys? They were bending way back yesterday and reaching. I decided to move them a bit higher.

You gotta kinda get back to the basics. It is a living creature after all, if it's not getting enough light, it's gonna contort and stretch itself until it gets the necessary light required, just like some plants/flowers do. If they were getting too much light they would be closed up and/or slouching and possibly dieing off. They do look pretty healthy, just a little stretched to get more light.

Believe me I completely understand the basics. These are blue steels. Everything ive read on the forums shows the exact opp of how they should be. Lol. Thanks for confirming my observations though.

My sour apples were doing the same I moved them up and they shrunk down and look great again. Hope this helps!

dont wory they came from the carebean and they realy love the sun,move closer to the lights

Stretched from low light. Move them higher or turn up your lights to higher output.
