What ever happened to the african steel blues zoa's ???? i heard that the melted away on alot of people....is this true???

thanks aloha....but the why are they called blue hornets ????the ones i have dont look anything like hornets or the AOI's......they dont have the alternating whiskers like hornets do and they have green splashes on the whiskers where the AOI dont.....sorry but i just dont see how they are called blue hornets unless mine is the only colony that didnt morph into blue hornets...LOL

no there were some zoas a year or 2 ago that looked like hornets but were african steel blues. I had 2 or 3 beautiful colonies of them. fragged some but eventually they all just melted away.

I think there are still people that have them, but due to their temperamental nature, they don't get fragged as often, and I don't think they are as highly in demand because of their reputation.

I have african steel blues and they're doing ok, hopefully they dont melt on me.

They're not called blue hornets now. Blue hornets have the alternating skirt and blue in the middle of the ring. Steel blues have all green skirts and just a ring in the middle.

I have both. Just got the blue hornets but Ive had the steel blues for well over a year now. The first frag of steel blues I got melted right away. Then I got another 6 polyp frag which broke into 2 three polyp frags and 1 melted and 1 lived. I now have a nice colony but I'm afraid to frag them lol.
Mine were bright blue when I got them but turned purple in my tank under MH. I now switched to T5's and they're still purple so not sure how you keep the bright blue on them.

Not sure who's trying to say they've had their name changed- they're still Blue Steels (some at one point were trying to pass them off as blue hornets, or some trying to group them in)

I've had 3 different groups melt out-so I'm glad to hear their succeptible to it!
