So I got hit with a bad case of ich and lost all but 3 fish. Two green chromis and lawnmower blenny. I wasn't able to catch the chromis to add into the qt tank, just the lawnmower. He's been in there(looking so lonely) and not eating much with two doses of cupramine since Monday. Have Polyp lab medic running in my DT. Gonna run it thru for 10 to 20 days. Not sure which yet. How and when can I add Master Shifu back in my tank? He looks so sad and lonely. How and when do can I add him in, dive the tank is also being treated? Since he's been in cupramine, how do I add him back in without any copper going in my Dt? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm only 6 months in.

Here is my 72 bowfront tank, just the two chromis, inverts, and corals

Polyp Lab Medic = Hydrogen Peroxide

And there is no scientific evidence that Hydrogen Peroxide eliminates ich, velvet, etc. from an aquarium. I would catch the two chromis, treat them with Master Shifu in copper, and go fallow (fishless) in your 72 bowfront for 76 days.

That was the idea, to go fallow, but the little stinkers won't let me catch them. I took almost all the rock out threw it in the sump, and didn't want to tear it all apart(easier said than done), and I still couldn't catch the little buggars. Seems they were hit with ich/velvet which ever it was that killed off the rest. I will try again thus weekend. Do I need to add more copper to the qt tank once I do catch them? Poor Shifu isn't eating much that I can see. I guess that us a side effect of copper?

Once your copper levels are testing at therapeutic value (0.5ppm for Cupramine and other "ionic" coppers using the Seachem test kit), you should be able to just test the actual level in the water, only adding more copper as needed. When you do capture the Chromis, I've found that a drip acclimation to the QT will help them get used to the copper already present. Try offering Master Shifu (Kung Fu Panda? Did I get that right?) something tasty in a veggie sort of way - maybe some nori rubber-banded to a PVC pipe? You could try adding a bit of vitamin supplement or garlic (as an appetite enhancer) to the nori before tying it on.

I have had good success with hypo. I would pull all inverts out and treat the entire tank with hypo. You won't lose biological filtration and it's easier on the fish.

Copper can sometimes suppress appetites. I've never had this last long with blennys in copper. They usually get over it. Add the chromis into the QT, then continue raising the copper levels up to therapeutic. You'll need to test the water daily to ensure where the levels are.
