My DT has been fishless for 74 days (only shrimp and crabs in it) we lost all but 2 of our fish to ick. The 2 remaining fish are 1 PJ Cardinal and a Yellow Tang. I've heard the Tang should be added as one of the last fish but I would prefer not to leave him in the QT until I have restocked the other fish. What would be the best way to proceed? Thanks in advance for your assistance with this.

if you are not getting any more tangs then go ahead place it in DT. but if you are planning on getting more tangs then i would leave it in QT and introduce all tangs at same time. if you do place it in qt then buy other tangs bigger than this yellow tang but its a 50/50 chance.

I strongly recommend rehoming the tang. 56g is too small.

A yellow coris wrasse will get you that same vibrant yellow.

Flame or longnose hawk, royal gramma, chalk bass, a group of dartfish, are all possibilities.

I agree. I had a medium sized Yellow Tang who claimed my entire 90 gallon as his and turned into a complete jerk with the other fish. I can't imagine having one in a 56 gallon. Furthermore given the fact that Tangs are arguably one of the most susceptible to ich (if not the most) would make me very wary to put them in a tank that they are going to be cramped in.
