Any advise on fish aggression but only when the pumps are off. Anytime i turn my pumps off my putple tang goes after my extreme snowflake clown pair... chasing trying to back its scalpel into them. But only when the flow is off as soon as its back on they swim directly next to eachother with no sign of aggression.

Probably a feeding time response jockeying for position. Try feeding tang foods and clownfish foods in different areas at same time.

The tank is too small to do that. Looks like ill be setting up my 120 sooner then i thought. Right now they are in a 32 gal biocube which im going to use as a coral and fish qt for the 120. Right now the tang is roughly 2" so i thought i had plenty of time to set up the 120. Theyve been in there together for about 4 months.

I have a 120 for them but am moving in oct so was hoping to grow them out in the biocuba and avoid moving the 120.

Just thought it was odd its only when the pumps are off which i only do for maintenance/water changes as i usually feed pellets and leave the pumps on and they all eat together no issues.
Then I'm wrong. If they always feed with pumps on it won't be a feeding response issue.

But they probably were feed with pumps off or at least lowered before you got them so it still could be.

Another possibility is stress. Maintenance/wc can be stressful for the fish. Do they have ample hiding places?

I used to have the same problem with my PT, he knew food was coming and he would terrorize the yellow tang to keep it in its hide until he got his fill.
But this is a 130 gallon, it soon passed and I have peace in the tank.
PT are bullies, you'll continue to have those problems in a smaller tank unfortunately.
Bright side, you'll have fun with a 120 gallon!!!

Now that you mention it theres plenty of rock but they dont provide much of a cave. I have a box of roco rubble ive been wondering why i got. Ill try to put some of that to use. My clowns seems to host the temp probe when the pt is being a bully and ignore the anemone completely

Putting a purple tang in your 120 early in stocking is a mistake. It makes no sense to house it in a nano until you get a 120 when this fish should be one of the last ones added.

I have a 130 gallon and it was the first fish I added, other than a few weeks of posturing with the yellow tang, I have no problems.

Not saying your not wrong but the opertunity came for me to buy a pt and made an emotional decision and originally planned on setting up the 120 immediately. It was smaller then a quater when i got it and like i said i thought i had plenty of time to setup and stock the 120. Im ready to to put the pt in a 40 breeder if need be.
