I have 2 T/P Clowns, Melanurus, Filamented Flasher, and a Firefish in a 75g, the Flasher was added last summer with a Red Margin that carpet surfed this past week:(. I started to notice this behavior in the past month, I can't tell if the Flasher is being aggressive to the Clowns, no nipping, chasing and no frayed fins on the Clowns or Firefish. What he will do is swim around the tank and when he gets close to where the Clowns are hosting (overflow) he'll shoot up and get right next to them, Clowns don't seem phased at all. He'll do this to the Firefish on occasion but not as much as he does to the Clowns, the Firefish just darts and the Flasher just swims off without a chase, I figured the Firefish would hide if it was being harassed but he's out and swimming all day long. If he was doing this all the time I'd take him out but it's just a few times day and the other fish don't seemed stressed and are eating like pigs.
I tried to get some video but he hides when I get close. Anybody seen this behavior before? I'm just trying to get some peace of mind, the thought of trying to catch him to take him out.

That doesn't sound too bad to me. Firefish are known to go into hiding if they are intimidated. I wouldn't be concerned.

I agree. Some flashers love to find reasons to flash.

To the op: I assure you the clowns can hold their own, the the fire fish can hide ;)

Sorry about the carpet surfer!

Phew! What a relief. Now that you mention it he does seem to flare his fins and his belly turns from a pink to a dark blue. Hence the name Flasher.:D
Thanks, it was heartbreaking to find the Wrasse behind the stand. The tank is covered, but the one place I had some egg crate to cover a small gap, he picked to jump out of. Surprised me because I don't see how he could of picked up speed to knock the egg crate off and jump out in that location.
