A lot of my astrea are gone and I think the blue legged hermits are to blame. I've seen then cannibalize one another. They are kind of mean. Meanwhile, I have algae that needs cleaned up.

I'm thinking of ditching the hermits and replacing them with peppermint shrimp to scavenge and getting another batch of astrea.
Does that sound like a good plan?

I also have bubble algae and am considering a few mithrax crabs. How aggressive are mithrax crabs?

Add more empty shells. I have at least 3 per crab.

Hermits are opportunists, as they’re growing, they’ll catch & eat snails, that’s a food source & provide a new shell, it’s a win- win for them. Add more shells for them

I have plenty of empty shells. I think the hermits eat snails any chance they can whether they want the shell or not.

Will I have the same issue with mithrax, only worse?
