I have 2 Maitai clownfish in a 15 gallon tank (the shop owner said it was fine but now I'm starting to wonder if that's the aggression problem.) One is slightly bigger than the other and they're from the same clutch. They've never been seperated and have been living peacefully together for 4-5 months now. They've had no issues recently and zero aggression. Monday I was outside and when I came back in they were fighting. They wouldn't stop and the smaller one was picking on the larger one. There was no submission twitches they were just rolling. I had to go to my mom's house and had my dad check on them later and he said they weren't fighting snymore. The next day (Tuesday) MaiTai's (the larger one's) fins were almost completely gone. I know clowns can be/are agressive but this seems rlly extreme. They've never had aggression issues before and it's the smaller one who's nearly killed the larger one. I took the injured fish out of the tank and he is in a seperated tank now. What should I do and is this normal? Below is the injured clown. His color is way more pale and his fins are more ripped up now.

Few things that can be tried. Put the aggressor in an acclimation box l, you can try rearranging the rock work also placing a mirror by the tank to get the clown to fight itself. If seeing fighting, it's worse when you're not around.

100% a tank size thing. Less space to escape increases the chances of a falling out. It sounds like they may have never paired right and your “male” wants to be the female of the bunch. At this point I’m not sure there is much you can do except separate them.
