Anyway to help curb aggression from my foxface and my tang? Foxface is 3 inches long tang is 1.5 inches long. The foxface will chase the tang into hiding. Grow out tank both will be going into my 350 with my 9 inch naso.

how big of a tank do you currently have? You may want to put the foxface in quarantine for a bit so your tang can get established. Im surprised the foxface is the aggressor it isn't unheard of but they are typically the shy ones. Is it tearing fins or anything?

40 breeder my naso was chasing my foxface badly so he went in my 40 till he gets bigger. The tang is new only 3 days in my aquarium. And is always trying to school with my clowns in their anemone and almost giving me a heart attack. And no bigger than a half dollar coin. And no tearing fins just chasing him.

that's probably your problem the foxface was established first. You could try removing him for a couple days and even move around a few rocks to mess with his feeling of being acclimated to the tank. But size is also a problem so having enough hiding spots should help your tang a lot or keeping the tang in quarantine until it is larger

I had the opposite problem. Tomini chasing new Foxface. The Tomini is having a time out in the sump now.

fish are basically kids lets be honest. They always fight, put things in their mouths they shouldn't, get sick, and won't play nice with the new kid.

I'll give them a day the tomini tang has plenty of hiding places and can go tons of places the foxface cant.

My Tomini is a wuss. The Yellow and the Hippo push him around. The Tomini will be the first fish in my 120 once its cycled and the other tangs won’t be in for at least another month.

Hope that will let the Tomini get established and actually swim vs hiding under a rock.

Ekk we just decided to add a Foxface to the stocking list for our new 120. Not the news I wanted to hear about a Foxface.

Most of the time foxfaces don't like to bully they tend to be timid but other fish leave them alone because they are venomous. Don't let one story discourage you they are great fish. Just remember to add your smaller and more timid fish first to let them settle in

You could place a mirror on the side of the tank. The threat of a rival often distracts the aggressor.

Is the chasing relentless? How often do you feed?

Every other day they get fed, and on the day off they get fed a piece of nori on a clip

Very much the exception and not the rule. I believe the size tank they are in isn’t helping matters.

I got rid of my yellow tang and kept my foxface. The yellow hated him bad and had to go.

This is a big part of the problem. Right now you have young fish, and their metabolism is in overdrive. They should be fed several times everyday AND regularly be given nori to graze. Not enough food increases aggression.

Will increase feedings. And nori regularly and try that.

Increased feedings and more readily available nori have made it worse. Trying the mirror tonight to see if it helps.

Another thing you could try is rearranging your rock work to make the fox face uncomfortable with its new surroundings

Most of my corals have encrusted multiple pieces of rock and rescaping would cause damage to my hydno, monti, and pavonas. Hes more curious with his reflection then the tang. Not stressing but isnt a fan of another foxface.
