I have a Sohal tang that is very aggressive. I removed him from DT and placed him in the sump. I added a magnificent fox face after the Sohal and he was limited to just a corner of the tank by the Sohal. Later I added three small yellow tangs. The Sohal killed one of the yellow tangs immediately he was placed in the sump. The question is what are the odds that I will be able to place him back in the DT? The fish in the DT seems to be doing fine. The line up is Two yellow tangs, a purple tang, fox face, multicolor angel, and a copperband butterfly.

IMO slim to none, they can be really agressive. Looks like you have one that is and probably won't change. How big is it?

Sohals are among the most aggressive tangs. Some have had success in cutting down on their aggression by adding a lot more flow. A couple of powerful powerheads can help.

Also increasing feeding frequency can help.

Even implementing these it will still show aggression, but this may help.

Yes. Several tangs to spread aggression, frequent feelings, tons of flow, etc.
I will say that some are nastier than others and unless you get another tank boss (and maybe even if you did) the chances are he will stay a killer.

From his perspective he is trying to keep from starving. They fiercely defend territory because if they lose their patches of algae they may starve

At my lfs they had a sohal tang that was at least 9 inches long in their display tank which was well over 600 gallons, with various other tangs. And no matter what that tang was always chasing someone. One time I even came in and saw a large sail fin with a huge gash in his side and of course when I asked they said it was the sohals fault.
If you can I would find a new home for him if you haven't already.
