This morning i was trying to get a pvc piece into my carpenter wrasses acclimation box. He bolted and now is being tormented by the resident pin tail. Shes attacks the exquisite wrasses in his acclamation box as well. Tank is a 230 gallon lots of swim throughs. This is end of day one intro.

carpenter is hiding, she flushed him out and went after him but he escaped.

could i expect the acc box to help with the equisite wrasse?
chances of carpenter getting it together?
will the pin tail relax or is there no end to her rampage?

i know ill have to wait and see but i didnt think wrasses would go completely ballistic like this one

I’ve used acclamation boxes and while the fish were in there no one cared. As soon as I let them into the general population the attacks began. Some fish are fine after a day but relentless bullying will result in a death for sure

If you can get the pintail in the acclimation box for a couple of days this will allow the carpenters and exquisitus a chance to calm down and settle into the tank.

Agreed. The aggressive one needs a Time Out. Also a rockwork rearrangement could help as then the Pintail would essentially be a new fish in a new tank rather than an established fish trying to defend it's turf from new intruders.

And if nothing else, it may actually help to release the exquisite as well, and spread out the pintails aggression.

Sidenote: your pintail is at least a transitional male to behave in this manner. Definitely not a "she". ;)

I was thinking the same thing. the exquisite ate a little tonight. Wanted to get him settled for a day or two. I think i should release him soon if the carpenter stands a chance. Nervous that she will rip into all of them.
