I was wondering what to put in my reef tank with my clownfish. I have a 20 gallon tank and this fish has killed two other fish already, he even goes after my hand when it is in the tank. Is there a fish that anyone would recommend to put with it? Don’t want to lose another fish because of it, but I want more than 1 fish in the tank. Thanks!

20 gallon, WW clown...... not a chance, if he/she is that aggressive and killed other fish already.
Maybe another WW clown if they pair up.
Other option is get rid if it and get some other smaller fish.

Ok definitely will think about getting another WW clown or getting rid of him. Thanks

It sound like your WW clownfish is a female, not a male. If your looking for a mate. Make sure your buying a male because 2 female will fight to the death.
Getting rid of the WW clownfish is not a solution!
There are several ways to pair a female and male which I have tried in the course through the years with clownfish.

But firstly, purchase a small male of your choosing. Secondly, put both female and the new clownfish in a small diy container with holes that you can hang on the inside of the tank, or a breeder net. Should be small and that it will fill half way of water. This way the clownfish don't have room to swim away from each other. There will be a little fighting, keep them in the container for several hours from 3-6 hours the longer the better. Release the male in the tank, and leave the female in the container for a couple hours. Your putting the female in "timeout", because she doesn't no how to behave..lol

Then release and observe how they interact with each, there might be a little fighting. If it gets to abusive repeat the container method again. However, it should work the first time. This is what work for me. Here's a picture of my container DIY made of acrylic. A longtime friend in the hobby made this for me it was intentionally for the use to hold frags.

Good luck and let us know with pictures on how it went.

Thanks! If I order one online will they know if it is a male my lfs doesn’t usually have these fish so I would probably have to order it. Would the pair be the only fish I would keep then? Could they handle one more fish if they were a pair or would I have to get a couple of WW to have more than 2 fish? Thanks for the help, just trying to get the best results possible.

Your welcome! I would first check your LFS in most cases some LFS will order you 1 from there supplier. But before ordering check other LFS in the next town over, even if you have to drive an hour. I would like to see the fish before buying, but that is me unless I know the seller.

Here's what I do first check if there are any breeders in your hometown, check here on R2R members and sponsor's. Check with LFS up to an hour drive. Lastly Craigslist. Ordering from online like Live Aquaria you don't get WYSIWYG.

Lastly, only keep 1 pair in your tank. Say no more.

Thanks for all your help! I appreciate it! I will do that. I will be driving by where I got this one about 2 hours away so hopefully that lfs will have one again!

Call first before driving 2 hours.
FYI I have baby clownfish but not old enough to sell. And nine are Picasso's...may ready for Christmas
