My new Agile Chromis has a white area around the top left gill. He has just been put in QT and has been dipped in Hydroplex so far. He is eating and acting normal. I plan to next follow Jay Hemdal's quarantine medication procedures. Jay, what are your thoughts this is and recommended treatment if any? Thank you! @Jay Hemdal

Just manage the ammonia in the tank!
Jay

Jay, yesterday I put Cupramine in the tank. Today he was breathing hard so I did a 50% water change and pulled out the Cupramine with Polyfilter. The white area over the gill looked a bit larger. I put him in the net to take a closer look and it has actually gone away now. But he is still breathing hard. Do you think this could be a large fluke? I don't know whether to dose the tank with Prazipro perhaps tomorrow or take him back to the LFS for a refund. It's a 30 mile drive and I have let them know there is this problem. Your thoughts? Thank you.. @Jay Hemdal

What did the Cupramine test out at before the water change? It is almost always a mistake to pull the copper when you see rapid breathing, as when copper is properly dosed, it won't cause that, but gill diseases/issues will.

That white spot isn't really a symptom of a fluke, and even if it was, a single fluke is of no immediate concern, and can be dealt with later.

The tank has active aeration from an airstone?
The ammonia is testing at less than 0.25 ppm?
Is this the only fish in the tank?

Jay

Tank has aeration, ammonia has been tested and is zero. It's the only fish in tank. Now he has developed a white area in the middle lower part of his body and is still breathing hard. I have Rally Pro and am trying to find instructions to do a dip with it. It may be uronema, brooklynella or velvet? @Jay Hemdal

Is there a white lesion on its left side, belly region? With Chromis, the big issue is always Uronema. Copper won't help with that.

Yes, I am afraid that is what it is. He is soaking in 1 teaspoon of Rally Pro for 1.5 hrs or 1 hr? I have Kanaplex, Copper Power, Cupramine, Rally Pro and Prazipro. After the dip, should I put anything in the hospital tank? Of course, I know if its uromema at this point it's hopeless. The saleslady at the store is aware he is sick. @Jay Hemdal

I’m not sure the dose on rally pro - teaspoon in what volume of water? I’d go with the 90 minute dip, with aeration.

Sorry, 1 gallon with one teaspoon of Rally Pro. Yes, I have aeration going. Do you think it is uronema?

IDK - visually, you cannot ID this, so you look for things that line up - a new chromis with skin lesions, breathing fast.
