hey guys, I've had a six line wrasse for about 2 months now. He's been great. Hasn't picked on any of my clowns, shrimp etc. Super Peaceful that is until I added a royal gramma. From what I've read they're supposed to be compatible but, from what I've been reading with others experiences it's a roll of the dice, either the six line can be agressive, or the RG can be agressive. The six line has the gramma pinned to a hole that the gramma has called his own. I put him in on friday. Anytime the gramma comes out the six line zips into his face. Anything I can do? Has anyone had any experience that if I just give it time that the six line will back off? He hasnt nipped the gramma or caused any damage and the gramma is eating. I don't want to have to get rid of him and I Know i could try to get the wrasse out and into a QT tank for a while but, I'm trying to be the least stressful as I can.

If they fight, I doubt they will ever get along. Six lines are aggressive from what I've seen and they don't seem to let up.

Grammas do normally hide out in holes tho. Can the gramma eat from what you can see? if so he may be ok.

time.... In my 180 with an existing 6 line (fully grown and super fat) I added a Malanarus. it took at least a month before things truly calmed down.

Yeah he's able to eat but seems to be sitting in that hole most of the day, because of the wrasse. I'm hoping the wrasse calms down a bit. I would hate to try and rip that tank apart to get the wrasse into a qt.

Six lines are insane. If you want a peaceful tank, the six line will probably have to go.

A six line is a Damsel. They can be mean little boogers. However, you have a better chance if it's the last fish you add. Or have a bigger meaner fish to whoop his butt. My last Bluejawtrigger finally had enough of my old six line. I was lucky to be there to see it. It was awesome!!! That sounds bad I know, but he was a model citizen after that. Hard to catch once they're in your reef.

A six line is a wrasse not a damsel

Never had an issue with my 6 line. One of the most mellow, interesting fish I've ever had. If anything my Osc clown is the most aggressive fish I've kept. Can't stick my hand in the tank without getting bitten.

I have my sixline for about six years now. My conclusion with them is if you plan on keeping any other simularly shaped fish such as other wrasses, basslets etc.. you will at some point have problems...they are very aggressive and territorial. I had to take it out every time I added a new wrasse etc..and then after a few months being placed back in it would go on the attack... even tried to attack my Melanurus which is over 5"..it's living it's life now in the fuge keeping the critter population in check. Guys in my club are very happy when I give them free bags of cheato because it's loaded with pods etc.. because the six keeps them all in there....
