I’m a beginner to the saltwater fish hobby, about 4 months in. I returned home the other evening to find my new 55 gal tank had sprung a leak & dumped 25 gal of saltwater on my floor. Fortunately I had a secondary tank set up & was able to save my daughters birthday fish. However in my rush to deal w/ the other matters I simply took my agricultured & coral rock & put them in a Rubbermaid tote w/ a lid on & set outside. Now that I have everything replaced can I simply put the rocks back in or should they be scrubbed clean & then put back in. Any help w/ my inexperience is greatly appreciated

How long was the rock in the tote? Was it immersed in water? How cold is it outside? What was growing on it?

I assume you meant aquacultured rock. I would assume some die off, but how much depends on the answers to those questions. If it smells bad you for sure will need to cure it immersed in saltwater with a heater and a powerhead.
