I have a Red Sea Nano Cube at 24" deep & 20" wide and always liked the look of the AI Blades and how clean they look mounted across the water. I have a softie/LPS dominated tank and wondered what others experiences are using them.

What size would I need for this tank theoretically? 21" or 30"?

if its 24" wide then the 21" x 2 grows will cover the tank

My tank is an Oceanic 50 gallon

It’s 30” long 18” wide and 20” tall

I have some toadstools and mushrooms.

My primary light was a Red Sea ReefLED 90. I say was because that light kept losing its wifi connection and with wifi it will not work at all. No button to turn it on in an emergency.

I bought an AI grow 30” as a back up light.

I put it on my tank using the on tank mounts it comes with. They slide out. It sits directly on the sides.

Well, I was so impressed with the single strip light that I turned off the ReefLED and now use the AI Blade as my only light. It’s been a few month now and everything is fine. I thought the reduced wattage would cause a problem but my toads and mushrooms are doing great.

I’m running the 20K pre-set program 12 hours total with 2 hour ramp up and down time.

I really like the flexibility of this light. There are videos on YouTube that will help you set up your light and explain how to program it.

I really like this light and recommend it. I think one will be fine for a softie tank. If not you can always add another later.

While you can technically grow coral with just the grow, I really feel like to get the full spectrum and all bring out all the color of the coral, you need a grow and a glow.

If it's only 20" wide, the 21 would hang over.. not too much. I am looking at a blade as well for my 35G hex, 24 deep as well. Looking at the AI website it looks like low par at 24 deep. but at 18 it looks better per the BRS videos on a 24x24.

I went through 3 grows that all had spectrum issues. Whiter on one side. Clean looking and well built but they sent 2 replacements that were worse than the first. Each time they said they had fixed the issue.

How long ago was that, and where did you get them? I have heard of this, but none of the LFS vendors say they have had returns/complaints on it..

Ai recommends on their page a 2 to 1 light ratio for the blade.

It was a year ago so hopefully they fixed it but who knows. I got it from BRS and the 2 replacements came from AI warranty claims. BRS was good enough to take it back from me. Sucks cause it looked so sleek over my tank.

The issue with the Grows has been fixed for quite some time now. I have 2 of them and you can see the changes they made to fix the issue

I have seen some respected YT use blades on +250 gallon tanks to great effect (i was surprised TBH), they were not sponsored, used them for the look and flexability they provided.

Actually considering using 1 maybe 2 as supplemental lights in the near future.
