I just received 2 AI Blade 12” for my Nano Tank. I read good things about the Blades so bought then as soon as they came out. The problem is them come with these solid plastic “tank rests” that ends up covering almost all of the finned heat sink. Yes I know that the heat sinks are supposed to get hot as that is how they cool the light. But not this hot! I tried with and without the tank rests and it’s much cooler without them. The answer would be to have vented tank rests that I hope AI will supply or I will have to drill holes in my tank rests to cool which I really shouldn’t have to do.

It would benefit you to chop down the length on each one so the tank rest mount has just enough hold on the fixture in place without covering any heat sink capability.
Cut the side that holds the fixture since if you cut the other side it wont sit on the tank.

I would use a dremel with plastic cutting wheel.

Yes that sounds like a good idea. Thank you
