Hello all, new to the forum but not to the hobby. I've recently acquired an AI Hydra 52. Would really love to use it, but it's virtually useless without a director or controller. For a product that is still somewhat relevant, I am a surprised the directors were discontinued so quickly after the release of the HD fixtures. My question is-- where can I find a compatible controller or used Director? I've looked all over eBay and other used product sights. I've looked for Apex and reefkeeper modules with no luck either. So I now turn to the reef community for help or advice on this matter.

Half tempted to make this thing DMX512 compatible and hook it up to my stage lighting controller

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Welcome to R2R, I would suggest contacting AI directly link It seems that AI still support the controller Call @WWC I thing they have a couple of controllers at there store.

Thank you for the reply. I contacted AI about it recently. Seems they are on back order with no intention of manufacturing more. They do offer a $150 discount on the HD models if you send in your current fixture in exchange. I have, thankfully, found a controller from another user on this site however.

I’m having the same issue.. both my director and my controller have died.. any fix found?

Check around on the dry goods sale threads on this forum. That’s where I got a used controller. I noticed Marine Depot has them in stock every now and then as well.

My director has a power issue.. The mini USB port needs to be replaced, that’s it! I’ll call them again but they told me 6mo ago they wouldn’t touch it.. Worst company ever when it comes to their past clients..
