I have a 120 gallon tank which I posted last week that crashed. Now that I am waiting for it to cycle, I have a question regarding my lights. Using 3 AI Hydra 26 HD’s mounted approximately 24” above the tank. What is the ideal schedule for these lights? And, after watching some you tube videos I am completely confused on the proper settings. I plan on having a reef tank once the cycle completes. Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

24 is definitely too high in my opinion. 10 to 14 inches off the waters surface seems to be a happy area. As far as schedule there are a few out there that users seem to enjoy. The AB+ being the most popular. Second being the Dave Saxby schedule. Personally I run AB+

This is my version of AB+

Google/search ab+ for hydra 26 that seem pretty popular. 24" above tank sounds high to me, mine are 10" from the water
Same, 24" sounds way too high, especially for that large/deep of a tank. I keep mine at 10" above water line.

Than you to all that replied. I have adjusted my lights to 10” above water and set the 26 HD’s to match the AB+. Now since it is becoming very apparent that I need as much help as possible, my next question is for my 20 gallon sea horse tank light. I am using a AI Prime 26 about 10 inches above the tank. Do I set that light the same way?

So my tank is finally cycling. I only have a clown and mandarin that survived the crash. I just added a peppermint shrimp and three frag corals. Am really stating to get excited for the rebuild. Thinking about adding another clown next week.
